Adjunct Exercise Science / Athletic Training Wheeling University invites applications for adjunct faculty positions in the Department of Athletic Training and Exercise Science. The successful applicant will be an Athletic Trainer certified by the Board of Certification who has earned a Master of Science of Athletic Training, a Master of Science in a related field, or a Doctorate in a related field. This faculty position will teach in the undergraduate Athletic Training program, the Master of Science of Athletic Training (MSAT) program and/or the undergraduate Exercise Science program. Wheeling University is a private Roman Catholic university in Wheeling, West Virginia. It was founded as Wheeling College in 1954 by the Society of Jesus and was a Jesuit institution until 2019. Wheeling University competes in Division II of the National Collegiate Athletic Association as a member of the Mountain East Conference. Responsibilities Job duties include didactic instruction to students in the undergraduate Athletic Training program, the MSAT program, and/or the undergraduate Exercise Science program. Typical teaching responsibilities include preparation of course syllabi and materials and the assignment of grades. Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities The successful applicant will possess: Experience teaching athletic training courses, exercise science, and other health science courses. Knowledge of and experience with higher education principles, practices, and procedures. Proven, strong written and verbal communication and collaborative organizational skills. Knowledge and experience with technology sufficient to teach assigned courses. Ability to collaboratively participate in the development of course and program curriculum, prepare course materials and effectively deliver didactic presentations. A desire to develop innovative learning experiences. Commitment to the promotion and provision of learner-centered education. Dedicated to excellence in teaching, with a strong commitment to high professional standards. Minimum Qualifications BOC certification in good standing and eligible for West Virginia State Licensure is required. A Master of Science of Athletic Training, a Master of Science in a related field, or a Doctorate in a related field is required. Preferred Qualifications Minimum of three years of clinical athletic training practice/experience/supervision of certified athletic trainers and/or students. Previous academic appointment with teaching responsibilities at the postsecondary level.
