Job Description

Who You Are

You're a writer, editor, and content strategist with a track record of creating content that drives traffic and converts. You enjoy the research side of building out a content calendar as much as you do polishing copy to get that line just right.

You have experience with SEO and are constantly learning to stay up to date with advancements in search and AI.

You're able to think at a high level and prioritize work, understand the connections between pieces of content, and conduct keyword research to drive your efforts.

You're curious and detail-oriented. You ask questions to get the full story, verify technical details with experts, and catch the small things that matter—outdated costs, broken links, missing optimization opportunities.

And ultimately you're driven by producing content that is useful to readers—content that balances SEO with readability and includes page elements that help users.

What You'll Actually Do

You'll oversee all the content on our website. This includes routine updates: maintaining our team page, posting new portfolios, creating landing pages, and ensuring the site runs smoothly. But you'll also drive the strategy across our Learning Center and core pages to increase our visibility with our target audience and drive traffic to our site.

Content Strategy & Planning

Own our content calendar and keyword strategy. You'll conduct research to identify high-impact content opportunities and carry out gap audits to determine what content we should create and why.

  • Manage and prioritize our content roadmap using competitor analysis and user intent research
  • Identify new content opportunities based on keyword trends, search behavior, and strategic gaps
  • Stay current on SEO algorithm updates and AI search trends
  • Provide monthly recommendations for new content based on emerging trends and opportunities

Content Creation

Write high-quality articles that establish Lamont Bros. as a leading resource in the industry.

  • Write SEO-optimized articles in various formats: how-to guides, cost breakdowns, comparison articles, and local resource guides
  • Interview internal subject matter experts to gather proprietary insights and verify technical accuracy
  • Optimize all on-page elements including titles, meta descriptions, headers, internal links, and schema markup
  • Identify supporting elements needed for performance: images, videos, charts, infographics

Content Optimization

Routinely revisit our existing content to keep it up-to-date, accurate, and optimized.

  • Audit existing articles to assess performance, relevance, and how well they meet user intent
  • Refresh underperforming content with updated information, expanded sections, and improved optimization
  • Update outdated costs, trends, requirements, and technical details to maintain accuracy
  • Implement strategic internal linking and conversion-focused CTAs throughout all content

Drive Conversion

Analyze how our site converts and make improvements to maximize lead generation.

  • Analyze site performance and user behavior to identify conversion opportunities
  • Update and optimize downloadable guides, cost calculators, and lead generation tools
  • Collaborate with our photographer and videographer to ensure pages have the right visual assets
  • Test and refine CTAs, form placements, and page layouts to improve lead generation

Thought Leadership & Original Research

Support research initiatives that position Lamont Bros. as an industry authority.

  • Support 1-2 research initiatives per year: developing surveys, analyzing data, and creating reports or blog posts from findings
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Manager on turning research into content assets

Must-Haves

  • 2-3+ years of experience writing and editing SEO-focused content
  • Experience crafting and executing content strategy for a brand
  • Understanding of how to optimize content to maximize its visibility in search
  • Experience writing clear, engaging long-form content that's helpful, ranks well, and converts
  • Experience with keyword research tools like SEMrush or SE Ranking
  • Self-directed and organized with excellent time management skills

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience in the home improvement or construction industry
  • Experience conducting and writing about original research or survey data
  • Basic graphic design skills or experience creating visual content elements
  • Experience with HubSpot CMS
  • Experience with Google Search Console and Google Analytics
