Primary Purpose Perform a variety of dental assisting duties as a trainee to promote quality dental care. Essential Duties Assist the dentist in the administration of treatment at the chair side as required or directed by the dentist and hygienist. Greet patients, pre-screen, and seat patients in the treatment room. Provide chairside patient education and instruction. Maintain a sterile and neat working environment according to current infection control policies and procedures. Disinfect and sterilize instruments. Facilitate referrals. Review health history and ensure completion of required forms. Familiarize patients with their dental visit process. Stock treatment rooms and maintain clinical supply inventory. Review daily schedule to set up appropriate trays, labs, and instruments. Pour models, take impressions, and manage lab cases. Take x-rays and utilize x-ray software. Document and chart in Dentrix and create patient appointments. Facilitate language translation for patients. Provide preventive maintenance of dental equipment. Regular and reliable on-site attendance is required. Other Duties Perform other related duties as assigned. Skills/Knowledge Basic mathematics skills. Ability to work with people of all ages. Fluency in English; Cantonese and Mandarin preferred. Education High School Diploma (or GED) required.
