Katten, a global Am Law 100 law firm, is seeking a highly qualified Associate to join its Tax Department in the Employee Benefits Practice Group in the New York office.

The firm’s core areas of practice include corporate, financial markets and funds, insolvency and restructuring, intellectual property, litigation, real estate, structured finance and securitization, transactional tax planning, private credit and private wealth. Katten represents public and private companies in numerous industries, as well as a number of government and nonprofit organizations and individuals.
Responsibilities
Candidates will be working on a variety of employee benefits and executive compensation matters, including due diligence in mergers & acquisitions. The position requires drafting, negotiating and counseling on executive compensation arrangements, public company executive compensation programs and M&A transactions, and research and counseling on compliance with the Internal Revenue Code, ERISA, and other laws governing employee benefit plans.
The ideal candidate will also handle work in other areas of ERISA, such as qualified plans counseling and corrections, ESOPs, ERISA Title I aspects of fund formation and investment management and/or handling the ERISA aspects of real estate, private credit, or structure finance transactions.
