About the RoleWe are seeking a Google Cloud Network Engineer to support and optimize enterprise cloud networking environments on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) . This role involves monitoring, troubleshooting, maintaining, and automating GCP network infrastructure while collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams. Candidates at this level work with moderate supervision, develop technical depth, and gradually operate with increasing independence.
Roles & Responsibilities Core ResponsibilitiesProvide Level 1 2 support for GCP networking issues, including routing, connectivity, firewall rules, DNS, and load balancing.
Monitor cloud network platforms, review health checks, analyze alerts, and escalate issues as needed.
Assist in onboarding new applications and users into GCP network environments.
Perform routine tasks such as network checks, policy validations, and configuration reviews.
Support updates, upgrades, and patching processes for network components.
Configure and maintain GCP networking components including:
VPCs, subnets, firewall rules
Cloud Router, Cloud NAT, VPN tunnels
Load balancers (Internal/External)
Private Service Connect, peering
Develop basic automation scripts (Python, Bash, PowerShell, or Go) to streamline operational processes.
Contribute to platform automation and infrastructure-as-code initiatives (Terraform preferred).
Research and apply network best practices to enhance reliability, resilience, and security.
Support microservices and container networking in GKE (Google Kubernetes Engine) environments.
Work closely with cloud engineers, developers, and product teams to resolve network-related issues.
Participate in agile practices, including stand-ups, TDD, and continuous improvement.
Respond to service requests, troubleshoot user issues, and resolve customer-reported problems.
Prepare documentation and contribute to platform knowledge-sharing sessions.
Associate degree OR 1 year of equivalent cloud/network engineering or server administrator experience .
Experience with:
Google Cloud Platform (GCP) networking components
Linux & Windows server administration
Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, firewalls, NAT)
Identity & access management (IAM)
VPC Security, network segmentation, zero-trust principles
Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Terraform Enterprise)
Containers and microservices architecture
Familiarity with:
AWS or Azure
Service mesh networking (Istio)
Monitoring tools (Stackdriver, Prometheus, Grafana)
API management platforms (Apigee Hybrid)
Certifications (Nice to Have):
Google Professional Cloud Network Engineer
Terraform certification
AWS/Azure cloud certifications
