Leidos is on the lookout for a Junior Biomedical Engineer to conduct biomedical research at our Environmental Health Effects Laboratory (EHEL) supporting inhalation and occupational exposure studies. Your contributions will help identify health impacts early to safeguard the performance and resilience of our warfighters. In this role, you will set up, maintain, and operate exposure systems and analytical devices for various research protocols, conduct routine maintenance, and perform data collection integral to our research initiatives.

The Challenge:

  • Participate in designing, constructing, and operating exposure systems to support vital toxicology and physiology research.

  • Operate advanced analytical chemical and gas measurement instruments.

  • Execute research protocols aligned with specific research goals.

  • Analyze, compile, and present data to principal investigators.

  • Compose detailed exposure technical reports.

  • Test, evaluate, troubleshoot, and maintain biomedical equipment.

  • Document all activities comprehensively in laboratory notebooks and technical reports.

What you bring to the table:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering or a related engineering field is preferred.

  • Relevant coursework or experience in the design and evaluation of biomedical technologies.

  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.

  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite, particularly Excel.

  • Solid data analysis skills.

  • Meticulous attention to detail and adherence to safety standards.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance; preference for candidates with existing clearance.

  • U.S. Citizenship is a requirement for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in military or medical research environments.

  • Familiarity with exposure testing systems.

  • Prior involvement in animal research.

  • Proficiency in MATLAB and R is desirable.

Pay Range: $50,050.00 - $90,475.00

The pay range for this role serves as a guideline only and actual compensation may vary based on numerous factors including experience, education, skills, and internal equity.
