Our Billing Specialist plays a crucial role by ensuring accurate and timely processing of medical claims. This person will primarily be responsible for handling billing and invoicing procedures, working closely with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients to facilitate smooth financial transactions.

This is a Remote position; however, all candidates considered for this position must currently reside within Central California.

Responsibilities

1. Prepares and submits claims to insurance companies electronically or by paper.


2. Contacts insurance companies regarding unpaid claims via rebill, appeals, or phone.


3. Handles patient inquiries via phone, email, and messaging portals.


4. Resolves patient billing complaints.


5. Prepares, reviews, and sends patient statements as needed.


6. Mails contact letters to resolve outstanding claims.


7. Evaluates patient's financial status and establishes payment plans.


8. Performs collection actions, including contacting patients and resubmitting claims.


9. Utilizes Practice Management software for AR and patient tasks.


10. Participates in educational activities and staff meetings.


11. Maintains confidentiality and adheres to HIPAA regulations.


12. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

About the Candidate

• Proficiency with NextGen, MDI EMR, and ICD-10 codes.


• Excellent communication skills.


• Ability to multitask and work independently or in a team.


• Proactive work approach.

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or relevant experience; Bachelor's preferred.


• Minimum 2 years as a Billing Specialist.
