• Citizenship Requirements: Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Clearance Requirements: National Background Check with Inquires, Fingerprints and Drug Screen.
• T ype of Employment: Full-Time, 40 hours per week.
• E s t imate Pay: $56.00 to $60.00/hour.
• P aid Time Off per Year: Up to 80-hours per year, occurring on day one.
• S i ck Leave per Year: Up to 56-hours per year, occurring on day one.
• P aid Federal Holidays : Eleven (11) Paid Federal Holidays

W orking Hours

Nurse Practitioner will normally work shift from Monday through Friday between 7:00 am to 6:00 pm with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break - no more than 24 hours a week.

Qualifications

• Certified and licensed to practice as a Nurse Practitioner
• Must provide verification of:
  • Education and current licensure
  • Clinical competency and CME compliance
  • Malpractice insurance
• Proficient in:
  • Routine office duties, including word processing and typing
  • Electronic documentation systems (BOP EMR)
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
• No negative employment termination in the last 36 months
• Must pass security clearance process
• Must be Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certified, in accordance with the American Heart Association Basic Life Support.

Attire

Nurse Practitioner is expected to wear professional clothing while on duty (scrub uniforms are approved). The attire worn shall also be appropriate for the correctional environment in which the contractor will be performing. The Nurse Practitioner is prohibited from wearing khaki or green clothing of any type as this is the color clothing the Adults in Custody (AIC) population wear.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Deliver diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive healthcare
• Conduct patient history , exams, lab and x-ray orders
• Provide treatment plans and prescribe medications
• Manage injuries : suturing, splinting, immobilizing
• Respond to medical emergencies and provide life-saving treatment
• Screen and manage mental health symptoms and mood disorders
• Conduct daily sick call and perform triage screening
• Assist with clinical procedures and care of inpatient mental health AICs

• Collaborate with:
  • Health Services Administrator
  • Clinical Director
  • Medical Officers
  • Other APPs and consulting physicians
• Support emergency consults and revise care plans as needed
• Advise on resources, conditions, and policies for healthcare delivery
• Discriminate between normal and abnormal findings to anticipate early symptoms
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical records in BOP Electronic Medical Record
• Review diagnostic results within 24 hours or by the next business day
• Submit written/electronic reports upon session completion
• Ensure confidentiality , uphold infection control protocols , and adhere to community medical standards
