Summary:

Primarily responsible for advertising-production management and printing for complex OOH, print and collateral deliverables, as well as for the purchasing of pre-press, color correction, and retouching in coordination with other members of the Production Services team. Collaborates with Account Management, Creative, Project Management, and outside suppliers. Maintains the highest-quality print production standards and the efficient management of costs and delivery.

Core Accountabilities:

  • Estimates fees and expenses for artwork, pre-press, color correction/retouching. Negotiates individual projects and campaigns. Renegotiates as scope or specifications change. Manages production budgets as jobs are in progress.
  • Manage a highly complex set of deliverables across multiple locations, each with different specs and insertion requirements
  • Works with Art Directors on color correction and retouching of photography for execution of the agency’s creative concepts.
  • Gathers studio, art buying, production costs and any other relevant expenses. Inputs estimate costs into template, then forwards to account executive for client approval. Files copies of approved estimates in electronic job jacket.
  • Coordinates pre-production planning with Project Management and Account Management.
  • Recognizes and anticipates possible production pitfalls and develops contingency plans.
  • Understands budgets and ensures timing parameters are consistent with project scopes.
  • Determines mechanical sizes from project scope and coordinates mechanical production through Project Management.
  • Issues purchase orders to appropriate suppliers with clear, complete specifications and instructions.
  • Is responsible for all aspects of quality control and cost accounting on assigned print projects. Attends press checks, as necessary.
  • Approves all related invoices and is responsible for ensuring that all costs are within budget and substantiated. Files copies of coded invoices in electronic job jacket for access by Accounting and Account Management.
  • Acts as custodian of all production assets and proofs during and post-production.
  • Ensures adherence to billing, archiving and job-closure processes. Maintains an estimate to actual cost accounting on each job.
  • Ability to fill in for team members responsible for the purchase of stock photography, footage and music

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Minimum of five to seven years’ experience in a print production role
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Strong ability to organize and work on multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Team player
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to be in our L.A. office in person as needed to view color proofs, as well as make site visits to printing facilities
  • Adapts and adheres to tight deadlines, as needed
  • Ensures that project elements are completed on time, per production schedule
  • Acts as a liaison between the Account and Creative teams, and production vendors
