Job Description: Job Type: Program Director, Graduate Program in Genetic Counseling, Faculty appointment Graduate classes Class schedule: Online platform, with occasional synchronous class sessions and Administrative meetings Duration of classes: Trimester schedule, must be available to teach year round Bay Path University seeks a dynamic, creative, and engaging program leader to serve and oversee the Genetic Counseling program. We seek a collaborative leader who has an established track record for high-quality curricular development at the university level and who is interested in preparing genetic counselors for 21st-century careers. The successful candidate will have a unique and exciting mandate and work with faculty to nurture the University's offerings to attain enhanced student achievement and external recognition. An appreciation for an integrated, interdisciplinary approach to learning is especially desired. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to use creative and innovative approaches to academic program development. The Genetic Counseling Program Director serves as the Chief Administrative Officer and leads the Genetic Counseling (GC) Program. The Program Director will manage the program, be knowledgeable of and responsible for the accreditation process with the Accreditation Council for Genetic Counselors (ACGC), and be primarily responsible for the program's organization, administration, fiscal budget, continuous review and analysis of planning, assessment, and development. The Program Director supervises the program faculty and staff in all program-related activities. The Program Director will lead the development and execution of the strategy to maintain the current programming and identify, evaluate, and launch new opportunities at Bay Path University. The Program Director will have teaching responsibilities in this program, and specific courses will be defined on the annual workload form. This person must be available to teach in all three semesters and teach a maximum of eighteen (18) of the twenty-four (24) credits annually, which reflects a six (6) credit release for administrative duties. This is a non-tenure position, reporting to the Dean of the School of Health and Natural Sciences (SHNS). This position is instrumental in overseeing the program, faculty, and the education of its students. Although an online program, this remote position's office is located at the East Longmeadow campus and requires occasional in-person attendance. The scholar selected for this position will join a collaborative and dedicated School emphasizing excellence in education at all levels. S/he will be involved in expanding program offerings, leading school partnerships, and implementing significant new initiatives for cutting-edge preparation. The director will be expected to participate in curriculum development and innovation; teach graduate and possible undergraduate courses, which may include online, hybrid, and weekends; advise graduate students; participate actively in local, state, and national professional organizations; and contribute to the service mission of the University and the School.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Represent the Genetic Counseling Program internally and externally. Maintain and build relationships with affiliate partners. Provide leadership to ensure compliance with all ACGC standards. Review and maintain the program's strategic plan. Establish the agenda for and chair GC program faculty meetings, Curriculum Committee meetings, Advisory Board meetings, and Admissions Committee meetings. Monitor student advisory systems and serve in an advisory capacity to students as necessary. Provide academic advising, as well as monitoring, evaluating, and remediating student performance. Recommend and oversee the program budget. Guide long-term planning to ensure the program's fiscal stability. Serve as the primary contact for communication with ACGC. Develop, implement, and continuously evaluate the program. Ensure the effectiveness of the program's curriculum and learning environment. Teach genetic counseling courses in area/s of specialty. Develop, maintain, and implement student recruitment and admission strategies. Recruit, supervise, and facilitate faculty and staff professional development and retention in the genetic counseling program. Conduct regular faculty evaluations and feedback activities. Maintain and collaborate with the program advisory board, implementing appropriate recommendations. Oversee the Deanna Cross Memorial Strategic Fund in Genetic Counseling, including the development and evolution of award criteria. Serve on Bay Path University committees. Understand and appreciate the University's mission, purpose, and goals and the role of faculty in achieving these goals. Provide service to the program and the University. Support the values of the University: teaching excellence, student success, and innovation. Work with the Office of Admissions to recruit qualified applicants for admission to the genetic counseling program. Oversee the fieldwork supervisor in recruiting and maintaining fieldwork training sites and running the simulated clinic, and assist, if necessary, to ensure appropriate training opportunities for all students. Perform any other duties or tasks as assigned by the University. Requirements: Degree requirements for position: MS degree and Board Certification by the American Board of Genetic Counseling or the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics required. Experience as the course instructor/instructor of record for at least six credit hours of post-secondary education required. If becoming a program director for the first time, as per ACGC requirements: Must have completed at least 10 hours of training/coursework in curriculum design, assessment, evaluation, educational andragogy, or principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice within the last 10 years. Must have provided fieldwork supervision for at least five genetic counseling graduate students for a minimum of 500 total contact hours in the last 10 years. Availability for program administration and teaching year-round, required. Previous online teaching experience preferred. Ability to adhere to University policies and procedures. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion. General knowledge of the University's mission, purpose, and goals and the role this position plays in achieving those goals.
