Robet Half Legal is partnering with an established boutique firm based in San Diego specializing in estate planning, probate, and elder law. The firm is seeking an experienced Probate Paralegal to support the managing partner on a remote, contract basis.

Responsibilities :

  • Prepare, file, and manage California Judicial Council forms and related pleadings, including
  1. Petitions for Probate and related supplements/amendments
  2. Inventory and Appraisal (DE-160/DE-161) and coordination with the Probate Referee
  3. Notice to Creditors (DE-157) and claims tracking/resolution
  4. Notice of Proposed Action (DE-165) and objections calendaring
  5. Requests for Special Administration, Letters, Bonds; Proofs of Publication/Mailing o Accountings (summaries, schedules, exhibits) and waivers of accounting
  6. Status reports; reports of sale & petitions to confirm sale (as applicable)
  • E-file/physical filing; coordinate service, publication, and courtesy copies per local rules.
  • Calendar hearings, track probate notes, and draft supplements to clear notes.
  • Liaise with court clerks, probate examiners, Probate Referees, banks, brokers, and title
  • Utilize Clio for case management and tracking.
  • Serve as a primary client contact to gather intake information, assets/liabilities, account statements, deeds, and beneficiary data.
  • Set expectations on timelines and next steps; document all communications in the case file.
  • Prepare attorney for hearings/meetings with concise status memos and checklists.

  • 5+ years’ recent experience in California probate and trust administration at a law firm
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Judicial Council probate forms and local court practices.
  • Strong client-facing communication skills—clear, empathetic, and professional.
  • Solid understanding of California Probate Code timelines, notice requirements, and local rules.
  • High accuracy in drafting, cite/form checking, calendaring, and task follow-through.
  • Proficiency with Clio (firm standard), court e-filing portals, and MS Office/Google Workspace
