As a Technology Sales Specialist (what we refer to intenrally as a Brand Technical Specialist) for IBM’s Data Platform portfolio supporting U.S. Federal clients, you will play a vital role in helping government agencies modernize their data infrastructure to meet mission-critical objectives. You’ll work with advanced solutions across data fabric, integration, governance, and AI-ready architectures—enabling agencies to unify and activate their data across hybrid environments. In this role, you’ll collaborate with federal stakeholders to address complex data challenges such as siloed systems, fragmented governance, and limited analytic capabilities. You'll co-create solutions that streamline data workflows, improve decision-making, and enable agencies to operate more efficiently and effectively in support of their missions. Your role and responsibilities As a Brand Technical Specialist you'll work closely with clients to develop relationships, understand their needs, earn their trust and show them how IBM's industry leading solutions will solve their problems whilst delivering value to their business. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Client Strategy Development: Create strategic plans for clients, focusing on information architecture solutions.
  • IBM Data Platofrm Design: Define practice solutions that include IBM's Data Integration, Data Intgelligence and Databases portfolio of products.
  • Proof of Concept Delivery: Provide proof of concepts and simplifying technical concepts to ensure client comprehension.
  • Building Credibility and Trust: Establish credibility and trust with clients, which is essential for closing complex technology deals.
Required education High School Diploma/GED Preferred education Bachelor's Degree Required technical and professional expertise Technical Expertise and Experience in Data Technologies: Deep knowledge and hands-on experience with IBM's Data Integration, Data Intelligence and Database products, including their functionalities, integration capabilities, and applications in the defense sector. Understanding of Defense Industry Requirements: Familiarity with the specific needs and challenges of the defense industry, including security, compliance, and operational efficiency. Sales and Business Development Skills: Proven ability to drive sales processes, from identifying opportunities and developing relationships to managing client expectations. Pre-Sales Support and Solution Design: Experience in delivering technical presentations, demonstrations, and proof of concepts, as well as designing solutions tailored to defense industry requirements. Strong Communication and Collaboration: Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams. Ability to produce clear and persuasive documentation, proposals, and reports, and to work collaboratively to address complex client needs and provide customized solutions. Preferred technical and professional experience Active Security Clearance: Possession of a current security clearance Project Management Experience: Experience in managing complex projects, including coordinating resources, timelines, and deliverables, particularly in a defense or high-security environment. Knowledge of Defense Regulations and Standards: Understanding of relevant defense industry regulations, standards, and best practices, including ITAR, FISMA, and NIST, to ensure solutions meet compliance requirements.
