Responsibilities

• They manually and automatically clean used medical equipment, removing all organic and inorganic residue.
• They operate and monitor sterilization equipment, such as autoclaves, to sterilize instruments and eliminate microorganisms.
• They assemble instruments into trays for specific procedures, inspect them for cleanliness and functionality, and package them to maintain sterility.
• They manage the inventory of sterile supplies, track expiration dates, restock equipment, and deliver sterile instruments to the appropriate departments, like the operating room.
• They maintain accurate records of sterilization processes, equipment maintenance, and test results, and report any issues with equipment.
• They adhere to strict infection control protocols and safety standards, and they handle and dispose of medical waste properly. 

Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of recent Sterile Processing Tech experience
• Active certification
• Strong critical care skills and ability to perform in high-acuity settings
