Under general supervision of the department manager, shift supervisor or designee, the Non-Certified Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for decontamination, cleaning, processing, and sterilization of instruments in compliance with medical center policies and procedures, state, local and federal requirements. Graduate of high school or GED equivalency examination. Possess ability to understand and implement a variety of detailed instructions in the execution of processes. Applicant must communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Basic computer skills required. Ability to work in a fast-paced, high pressure health care environment required. Excellent interpersonal skills required. Detail oriented required. Travel may be required. Holiday work and emergency management/disaster team work required. Physical Requirements include ability to perform job functions while standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, working indoors and outdoors in temperature extremes, working from elevated areas and confined spaces, kneeling, bending, twisting, squatting, pinching, gross and fine motor activities with fingers and hands, reaching overhead and in all directions, lifting and carrying weights up to 50 lbs, exerting force up to 50 lbs, maintaining vision and hearing acuity, working rotating shifts and overtime, working in a latex safe environment, and maintaining tactile sensory functions.
