Job Overview: A distinguished law firm in San Jose, CA, is seeking a driven and detail-oriented Tax & Estate Planning Attorney to support its expanding legal services in tax resolution, estate design, and wealth preservation. This position offers the opportunity to handle complex tax and estate matters on behalf of affluent individuals, family businesses, and charitable entities. This role balances technical expertise with client-facing strategy in a dynamic and interdisciplinary environment. Duties: Handle tax controversy matters, including audits, collections, and appeals with federal and California tax agencies Draft legal instruments such as trust agreements, wills, estate plans, Tax Court petitions, and legal advisories Represent clients in proceedings and negotiations involving the IRS, FTB, EDD, CDTFA, and other authorities Analyze and resolve intricate tax and estate matters involving trusts, foreign reporting, and succession planning Create comprehensive estate strategies including irrevocable/revocable trusts, charitable vehicles, and family partnerships Collaborate with accountants, paralegals, and attorneys on cross-practice initiatives involving real estate, corporate, and probate law Stay current with tax law changes and interpret their effect on clients’ legal strategies Support business development and legal education initiatives within the firm Requirements: Licensed to practice law in California, in good standing 3-5 years of focused experience in tax law, estate planning, or related legal practices Prior involvement in tax resolution with federal/state authorities, including settlement and litigation strategies Proficiency in preparing legal documents for estate and tax planning Exceptional writing and research skills, including the ability to prepare high-quality legal analysis Comfortable interacting with high-net-worth individuals, fiduciaries, and small to mid-sized businesses Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-driven setting Knowledge of Tax Court procedures and complex trust structures is advantageous Education: Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school Certifications: California State Bar license (active and in good standing) Skills: Legal drafting and analytical reasoning Strategic thinking in tax and estate law Client relationship management Collaboration across legal and financial disciplines Strong communication and interpersonal abilities Familiarity with charitable and business succession planning structures Job Location: San Jose, California #J-18808-Ljbffr BCG Attorney Search
