Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring at least 2 years of experience and multiple advanced certifications.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

• Work in a hospital Emergency Room with 12 beds, including access to a 12 bed Urgent Care operating 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
• Level 4 Trauma center capable of thrombolytic therapy for STEMI and stroke, with patient transfers for interventions
• Typical patient census ranges from 40 to 100 per day depending on season
• Nurse-to-patient ratios are typically 1:4 or 1:5
• Common diagnoses include trauma, pediatric emergencies, sepsis, STEMI, stroke, and a variety of urgent care complaints
• RNs are responsible for triage and may float occasionally to provide support in other units
• 12-hour day and night shifts with manager-assigned scheduling
• Every third weekend required for day/mid shifts; every other weekend for night shifts
• Holiday coverage required every other holiday
• No on-call responsibilities
• Uses Cerner EMR (transitioning to Epic); GE-Carescape for cardiac monitoring
• Responsibilities include triage, direct emergency care, procedural sedation, code response, and participation in patient transports
• RNs handle phlebotomy, ventilator setup/troubleshooting, and reading of cardiac strips
• Support staff may include a secretary, tech, or medic, with variable daily staffing
• House supervisor available 24/7; charge nurse carries a patient assignment
• Respiratory therapy support is generally available but may occasionally be unavailable
• Navy blue scrubs are required
• 1-2 day department-specific orientation provided for agency staff
• Candidates living within 80 miles are considered local and subject to local rate

• Active WI or compact RN license required by start date
• Minimum 2 years experience in an Emergency Department setting
• Current certifications required: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), PALS (AHA), NRP, TNCC, NIHSS
• Experience with trauma, pediatric, resuscitation, code blue, procedural sedation, and reading own cardiac strips
• Ability to set up ventilators on rare occasions when RT is not present
• Two professional references required, including one from a supervisor
• Former permanent staff must not have worked at the facility within the past 6 months to be eligible
