Position Summary

This position is ideal for an experienced educator who is passionate about engaging students in hands-on, inquiry-based science and thoughtfully structured math instruction. The math program is grounded in best practices and designed to be both accessible and appropriately challenging, helping students build strong skills and confidence. The ideal candidate supports students’ academic and social-emotional growth during the critical upper elementary years.

Key Responsibilities

· Teach up to five daily math and science classes to students in Grades 4 and 5.

· Design and deliver differentiated, developmentally appropriate instruction aligned with NGSS and with relevant math standards.

· Facilitate hands-on science labs and experiential learning opportunities.

· Plan and lead field trips, including the school’s annual science camp.

· Work as an instructional team with the Grade 4 & 5 Language Arts teacher to ensure integrated academic and social-emotional support for students.

· Monitor and assess student progress and modify instruction as needed and communicate any concerns to school leadership.

· Communicate clearly and effectively in spoken and written English with all school constituents, including students, colleagues, and parents / guardians. 

· Attend staff meetings and serve on school committees.

· Participate in school events, faculty meetings, and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

Required:

· Minimum of 3 years of full-time classroom experience teaching math and science at the upper elementary or middle school level.

· Bachelor’s degree in education, science, math, or a related field.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, including professional communication with students, families, and colleagues.

· Experience with educational technology, including Google Classroom, IXL, online grading systems, 1:1 student device integration, and data-driven assessments.

· Demonstrated ability to support social-emotional learning (SEL), including fostering empathy, resilience, and self-awareness in students.

· Ability to create a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment that fosters learning.

Preferred:

· A minimum of 5 or more years of full-time classroom experience teaching math and science. 

· Advanced education degree and/or current California teaching credential.

· Deep knowledge of NGSS and experience with inquiry-based instruction.

· Deep knowledge of best practices in math instruction.

· Demonstrated success integrating SEL practices into daily classroom routines.

· Experience teaching in an independent or private school setting.

Compensation & Benefits

· Salary Range: $70,000–$85,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
