Practice Manager - Veterinary Cancer & Surgery Specialists

Milwaukie, Oregon (Greater Portland Area)
Full-Time | Monday-Friday | $70,000-$90,000 annually (DOE)

Veterinary Cancer & Surgery Specialists (VCSS) is a privately owned specialty veterinary practice located in Milwaukie, Oregon , a welcoming suburb just minutes south of downtown Portland. Our highly skilled and compassionate team provides advanced oncology and surgical care in a collaborative, patient-centered environment. We are seeking an experienced Practice Manager to lead our hospital operations, support our dedicated team, and help drive excellence in both client experience and team culture.

About the Role

The Practice Manager oversees daily hospital operations, including team leadership, financial management, human resources, and client service excellence. This is a full-time, on-site role (Monday-Friday) , and the right candidate will thrive in a collaborative specialty practice environment where compassion, accountability, and professionalism guide everything we do.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide day-to-day leadership to support a cohesive, high-performing team
  • Oversee client service, scheduling, and workflow to ensure operational efficiency
  • Manage recruiting, onboarding, training, and performance feedback
  • Partner with the Medical Directors to align team and hospital goals
  • Oversee payroll, budgeting, and financial performance metrics
  • Maintain compliance with all employment, safety, and veterinary regulations
  • Cultivate a positive, professional, and solutions-oriented workplace culture

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required (business, management, or related field preferred)
  • Minimum 3 years of management experience leading a team
  • Previous veterinary management experience strongly preferred
  • Credentialed Veterinary Technician (CVT/LVT/RVT) experience highly desirable
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with veterinary practice management systems, HR functions, and budgeting
