Purpose of Wound Care Registered Nurse The primary purpose of the Wound Care RN position is to monitor resident wounds, track progress, implement treatment plans with coordination of the Wound doctor.
Wound Care Registered Nurse Job Responsibilities Nursing Care - Ensure that all nursing personnel assigned to you comply with the written policies and procedures for wound care, established by this facility.
- Consult with the resident's health care practitioner in providing the resident's care, treatment, rehabilitation, etc. Make rounds with health care practitioner. Discuss wound care changes .
- Completes daily clinical and environmental rounds to evaluate resident care being provided and report significant events.
Wound Care Registered Nurse Charting and Documentation - Communicate with health care provider to review treatment plans, complete orders, progress notes, etc., in accordance with established policies for wound care.
- Complete and file assessments and all other medical record documentation as required to provide wound care services.
- Report all discrepancies noted concerning physician's orders, diet change, charting error, etc., to the supervisor.
- Ensure that pertinent wound care clinical documentation is completed according to policy including accident/incidents reports involving residents.
Wound Care Registered Nurse Medications - Prepare and administer wound care medications ordered by the health care provider.
- Review wound care medication administration record for completeness of information, accuracy in the transcription of the physician's order. Report concerns to your supervisor.
- Handle and dispose of wound care drugs and narcotics in accordance with established procedures.
Wound Care Registered Nurse Care Plan and Assessment - Periodically review the resident's written wound care, care plan. Participate in the updating of the resident's written, wound care, care plan as required. Ensure that personnel providing direct wound care to residents are providing such care in accordance with the resident's care plan and wishes.
- Complete an initial assessment and develop interim wound care plan with new admissions. Participate with updating and reviewing wound care plan that identifies the goals, problems, approaches, and revisions based on nursing needs.
Wound Care Registered Nurse Education & Experience - 2 years preferred of Wound Care experience in a hospital or long term care setting with Wound Care Certification.
- Willingness to obtain WC Certification within 6 mos of hire
- 5 years minimum of RN experience in a hospital or long term care setting.
Licensing/Certifications - Must possess an active license to practice as an Registered Nurse in this state.
- Wound care certification preferred within 6 mos of hire.
