General Purpose Operate shuttles to move trailers from building to building, staging area, and from various loading dock doors. Apply knowledge of commercial driving regulations. Job Duties and Responsibilities * Operate a commercial motor vehicle in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) and DFA rules, regulations, and policies adhering to all safety practices * Receive instructions via radio and perform trailer shuttling to accommodate logistical needs * Perform daily maintenance checks of shuttle truck and report any malfunctions to the appropriate person * Document all trailer moves into the appropriate system or daily move sheet; submit sheet to appropriate person upon the completion of the shift * Fuel the yard truck as needed * Couple and uncouple tractor trailer units * Connect and disconnect brake lines as needed * Perform safety check inspection of the trailer according to DOT regulations * Secure all equipment and complete all necessary paperwork at the end of the shift * Communicate effectively and maintain good relations with local staff; report any problems to the supervisor * Attend all driver workshops and training sessions * Represent DFA positively and professionally at all times during interactions with customers or other individuals * The requirements herein are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by employee, but is not a complete list of responsibilities, duties, and skills required.
