The Greater Phoenix Chamber Foundation (the Foundation) convenes and catalyzes business, education, and community to enhance college and career readiness, develop a stronger workforce, and build healthier communities throughout Arizona. The Foundation, a 501c3 nonprofit organization, leads the charitable and education initiatives of the Greater Phoenix Chamber under the four pillars of education, workforce development, wellness, and research. Through strong alignment between education, business, and community, the Foundation prepares individuals for college and career and serves as an intermediary to convey workforce needs and champion scalable workforce solutions. ElevateEdAZ

ElevateEdAZ is an initiative of the Foundation, in partnership with public school districts, high schools, and charter schools, intended to increase the number of students completing high-quality education-to-workforce learning pathways and improve student outcomes, better preparing them for college and career.

Who are we looking for today?
The Greater Phoenix Chamber Foundation is partnering with the Sahuarita Unified School District to bring ElevateEdAZ to Sahuarita High School and Walden Grove High School. ElevateEdAZ is an initiative of the Greater Phoenix Chamber Foundation that works within high schools to achieve the following goals:

  • Increase student enrollment in CTE pathways aligned with High-Wage, High-Demand sectors.
  • Boost attainment of industry credentials and early post-secondary credit.
  • Increase the completion of capstone work-based learning experiences.
  • Empower educators through employer-led externships.

We are currently seeking a dedicated College and Career Coach (CC Coach) to serve in a participating high school and represent the ElevateEdAZ program within the school and community. The CC Coach will collaborate with our team, along with school administrators, to achieve our objectives.

School Locations:

  • Sahuarita High School- 9000, 350 Sahuarita Rd, Sahuarita, AZ 85629
  • Walden Grove High School- 15510 S Sahuarita Park Rd, Sahuarita, AZ 85629

Primary Responsibilities

The College and Career Coach will be an integral member of the school community, working closely with school educators and administrators to coordinate career development opportunities for students and educators. The College and Career Coach will work with their school administrators and teachers to:

1. Increase Student Enrollment and Completion in High Wage High Demand CTE Pathways:

  • Promote designated CTE pathways to prospective students to boost enrollment and completion rates.
  • Facilitate student career exploration, including aptitude testing and interpretation.

2. Enhance Industry-Recognized Credentials and Postsecondary Credit Attainment:

  • Promote post-secondary pathways into local community colleges and universities.
  • Increase awareness of dual enrollment and credential incentive programs.

3. Expand Work-Based Learning Experiences:

  • Identify and match students with work-based learning opportunities, including job shadows and internships.
  • Provide career preparation support, including resume writing, mock interviews, and workplace etiquette training.
  • Coordinate participation in career fairs, panels, guest speakers, and field trips.
  • Develop on-campus career awareness and work-based learning events.

4. Empower Educators through Externships:

  • Connect teachers with employers for externship opportunities to integrate industry skills into the curriculum.
  • Support teacher commitment to business engagement.

5. Administrative Duties:

  • Adhere to school and district policies and procedures.
  • Represent the program in faculty and staff meetings.
  • Focus on achieving program goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with other student support roles, such as dual enrollment coordinators and counselors.
  • Report and monitor progress toward key objectives.
  • Maintain a visible and welcoming program space within the school.

Candidate Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will effectively work with youth, employers, educators, and school administrators. Key skills and attributes include:

  • Minimum two years' experience in volunteer management, counseling, coaching, education, or community relations.
  • At least one year of experience working with youth, preferably in a teaching or guidance counselor capacity.
  • Experience working with schools, school leaders, and staff.
  • Industry experience and strategic plan implementation are highly preferred.
  • Understanding of work-based, project-based, and experiential learning opportunities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills to solve problems and identify opportunities.
  • Superior interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks independently.
  • Proficient in MS Office products.
  • Reliable transportation for regular travel to schools and partners.
  • Ability to pass a background check, fingerprint clearance, and drug test.

Reporting
The Coach will report to an ElevateEdAZ District Director, an employee of the Chamber.

Work Environment

Typical work hours are 7:30 am to 4:30 pm on the high school campus and 8 am to 5 pm on office days.
