What You'll DoThe Post Harvest Packaging Supervisor plays a pivotal role in the cannabis industry, overseeing the final stage of the post-harvest process: the packaging of cannabis products. This position involves supervising a team of packing staff, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, maintaining product quality, and efficient handling of cannabis products before they reach the market.
Job ResponsibilitiesLead and manage a team of packing personnel.
Schedule work shifts, assign tasks, and provide training and guidance.
Monitor staff performance, offer feedback, and address any issues or concerns.
Implement and maintain strict quality control measures to ensure high-quality cannabis products.
Inspect products for visual quality, weight, and labeling accuracy.
Address and document discrepancies or product defects.
Ensure packing activities comply with state/local regulations and industry standards.
Keep abreast of changing regulations and update procedures accordingly.
Collaborate with compliance officers to ensure accurate record-keeping.
Oversee packaging processes, including filling, labeling, and sealing of cannabis products.
Monitor the speed and accuracy of the packaging process and adjust as needed.
Maintain an organized, clean, and efficient work environment.
Track and manage inventory of packaged cannabis products.
Conduct regular inventory checks and assist with audits.
Communicate inventory levels to relevant departments.
Oversee cleaning and maintenance of packaging equipment.
Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate repairs as needed.
Maintain effective communication with post-harvest, production, and distribution teams.
Report issues, bottlenecks, or concerns to higher management.
Collaborate with packaging and labeling departments to ensure smooth operations.
Provide ongoing training to packing staff on proper techniques, safety, and compliance.
Promote a culture of continuous improvement and employee development.
High school diploma or equivalent (additional coursework/certifications related to the cannabis industry a plus).
Previous experience in cannabis production or packaging role.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Knowledge of cannabis strains and product types.
Familiarity with packaging equipment and labeling requirements.
Understanding of safety and compliance regulations.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Physical fitness and ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Must be able to push, pull, or lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
Must be capable of sitting, squatting, standing, kneeling, bending, or walking throughout the day.
Must be capable of working at a computer for extended periods if required.
Exposure to fertilizer, dusts, odors, high heat, low temperature, high and low humidity, high noise levels, vibrations, water, dry salts, allergens, pollen, dust, plant pathogens, other volatile organic compounds, and other environmental variables.
