Job Description

  • This is a great role for a Tax Accountant / Tax Analyst who would like to stay in the Tax world, but get OUT of public accounting and have a role that isn't tax preparation focused.

    • This is an onsite position, and this person should live in a reasonable distance to Fairfield CT - the office is conveniently located less than a mile off of I-95, and 10 minutes off the Merritt Parkway.

    As a Senior Associate, you will be responsible for managing IRS correspondence related to client tax filings, payments, credits, and refunds. You’ll also support K-1 data processing, assist with tax return preparation, and contribute to ad hoc tax projects.

    We’re looking for a detail-oriented, analytical professional who thrives both independently and in team settings. The ideal candidate is proactive, adaptable, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    IRS Correspondence

    • Review, research, and resolve IRS notices, primarily related to Forms 990-PF and 990-T, including extensions and payments.
    • Reconcile refund checks, credit adjustments, and discrepancies.
    • Coordinate processing of physical IRS mail and manage workflows via project management tools.
    • Collaborate with internal teams (Tax, Finance, and Client Services) to resolve client tax issues.

    K-1 Processing

    • Manage intake and review of K-1s for accuracy and completeness.
    • Reconcile discrepancies between K-1s and internal records.
    • Request and process additional documentation as needed for tax preparation.

    Tax Return Preparation (10%)

    • Prepare basic private foundation tax returns and related schedules.
    • Support other tax-related projects as assigned.

    Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

    • 2+ years of accounting experience required
    • Bachelor's degree or relative work experience preferred
    • Experience working with IRS on resolution of correspondence and other tax matters
    • Knowledge of K-1s
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
